Some effort to wring out the sympathy for veterans, but so maudlin, then freaky, that I can't imagine finishing it.

A little stiff, language stilted, but I don't recall anything quite like it in LW. Interesting take on a loving wife story.

You lost me at the beginning. I am sorry for this comment on an otherwise well structured story. Purple Hearts are awarded to ANY soldier for ANY combat wound ,major or minor. Yes , one is awarded for death. It is not an award for a heroic act.

I will treat it as eternal Romance....not bound by time zones

Nor would the officers say that the fallen soldier would receive the Medal of Honor. That’s a very rare award, and it’s simply not decided upon that quickly.
