I hear what you're saying. I will say I'm not completely done with the this story yet, so there may be more tumultuous moments in his future. But I wanted to convey that he was essentially rewritten; there's memories of what life used to be, but there's like a fog or a filter over them because primary motivations have been changed.

I personally find it very hot when a switch is flipped and suddenly the character has urges for things they didn't before.
