Why do all these stories have the wife verbally and physically abusing her husband?

Imagine a story where the husband beats the shit out of his wife. Just lays the boots to her, cracked ribs, busted orbital socket, maybe knocks her out. And all the while saying he loves her. That she’ll always be his wife. And if she doesn’t like it, there’s the door.

Imagine she stays and the rest of her life is pain and suffering. Would you still think it’s erotic? Hopefully not because it’s abuse. So why is it erotic if a wife emotionally and psychologically punishes her husband?

What she’s doing is abuse and writing the husband to enjoy doesn’t make it any less abusive.
