"Well, let's get geared up and start the belt test." Steve said.

Steve and Stella headed to the basement ahead of Jerry and I.

They started the belt test and I quietly said to Jerry, "Jer, I need to pay close attention to Stella's performance but we will talk some more in a few."

I watched Stella go through her warm ups and preliminaries before she started sparing with Steve. She was pretty impressive but just a short step behind what I've seen from Kala and Kenz.

They got done with Stella's test and Steve came over to me to get my feelings.

"She had good solid fundamentals and made some good strikes on your blocks. She almost had you at one point but failed to follow up and press the advantage hard enough. All in all she did well. Her mental attitude is strong and she's not afraid to work hard on developing her skills. I'd say she was worthy of getting her yellow belt and quite frankly not far from the green belt. She has come a long way in a short time. I'm interested to see how her skills stack up against the girls'."

"I agree, I just wanted to be sure I wasn't being biased in my assessment." Steve said.

Stella was dripping in sweat from the workout.

Next up Kenz.

"That was quite the performance from Stella." Jerry said.

"Yes it was but I'm interested in seeing the twins performance as they spar with Steve. He hasn't spared with them at all this week. I have."

Kenz nailed her warm up exercises and her demonstrations with her kicks being spot on. I expected this with her cheer-leading background and how she had kept in form the past couple of months.

When she spared with Steve, she held her own and blocked almost all of his kicks and punches. He managed to get in a couple of blows that he pulled but he had to work harder at it than he did with Stella. Toward the end of the sparring session, Kenz managed to get in a good fake and caught Steve by surprise but pulled her kick while sending him back a step or two.

When they had finished Kenz was a soaked in sweat as well as Steve.

Steve said, "Kenz, the only reason I don't give you a green belt right now is that by unwritten protocol, belts aren't skipped. If you can show me what you did today in three weeks, I'll award you your green belt."

Kenz bowed to Steve like Stella had and said, "Thank you sensi." But the smile on her face was as bright as the sun.

Steve came over and said, "Wow, I've never worked with any student that was that good that quick. Most guys would be hard pressed not to have their asses handed to them in a dark alley in a one on one with her."

Kala finished her warm up and prelims, she and Steve got down to business after Steve took a short break to get a drink and catch his breath.

Kala performed pretty much on the same level as Kenz. There was a touch of sibling rivalry between the twins when the did pretty much anything with neither one wanting to take a back seat to the other.

When they finished, Kala bowed to Steve and thanked him too. His comments to her matched Kenz's and again you needed sunglasses to be in the room with her and her bright smile.

Steve wiped the sweat off of his face and came over to Jerry and I.

"Damn, I'd hate to go up against the two of them in a dark alley unless I was at least a black belt. Stella's good but she's a step or two or so behind the twins. They both will get their green belts when I come back to test them in a couple of weeks or so. I'm going to have to put some pressure on Stella if she's going to keep up with those two. Now, I'm in desperate need of a shower and something to eat."

The three girls were standing across the room talking and giddy with their results. I spoke up and said, "Why don't the three of you and Steve get your showers and a sport drink to pump some electrolytes back into you while I take Jerry back to check out the house. When we come back, Betty and Lance will be here with Betty's famous fried chicken and dressing and we can heat up the stuff we put together for the noon meal."

Jerry spoke up and said, "That was impressive ladies. I sure wouldn't want to mess with any of you let alone all three together."

They all three turned to Jerry beaming and said, "Thank you."

The four of them headed to the two showers and Jerry followed me out to the Defender and we took off for the new house.

I gave him the rundown on how I met the girls and them stalking me home as well as things leading up to the camping trip at land between the lakes. When I was done he just looked at me with his head tilted to the side shaking his head.

We got through with the house tour and Jerry said, "Damn, now I'm jealous, I had you on the house until now. This place is going to be awesome. When do you think you'll move in?"

"Planning on the week after Thanksgiving. Let's head back to the house. You are staying for lunch aren't you?"

Jerry had given me the rundown on Lexi leaving and how rough things were for him right now before we stopped for him to check out the endless pool.

I had texted Kenz and told her to let Lance and Betty know that Lexi had up and left Jerry and to ask them not to ask about her or the situation when Jerry was busy checking out the endless pool and hot tub.

"Sure, come over here and check it out."

Kenz and Kala got up and walked over to behind Jerry as he pulled up his gallery and swiped to the aerial view of his place.

"Me too but the log home is awesome and it looks like you might have some hiking trails behind it in that woods. Are the woods yours too?" Kala chimed in.

"Yeah, I have about 14 acres and it joins the woods of my neighbors so we combined our trails. Covers a couple of miles in about thirty acres of woods."

"Nice place, but I want to look at the picture you had up first." Kenz said.

"Oh, this one, I took a picture of the pool room along with some others to show my family what Scott's new place looks like."

Lance showed it to Betty.

"I think Betty and I may have to as well." Lance said, "after the baby's here that is." Getting a slap on the arm from his wife. "And, Steve, about the place, let's talk when you have time."

He handed back Jerry his phone.

"Well, I need to get out of here and head back. I have a busy week at work this week and need to get somethings done around the house. Now that I've exposed Scott for the perv that he is." Jerry said with a snarky grin causing everyone to break up with laughter.

"You sneak, I walked right into that one." As I got up with him to walk him out to his car. When we got outside I said, "Hey look cuz, if you need anything or to talk, call me, come past or call me and I'll come over."

"Look, no you won't. I know you. Go see a marriage counselor, talk to your doctor. Something, The girls and I have been doing counseling after the run in at Rend Lake. We are starting to taper off but it has helped a lot. It helped Steve and I after the bad traffic stop last year."

"You know, you're probably right. I'll think about it." He said.

Steve had walked over to us and said, "Jerry, I'm so sorry about asking about Lexi earlier, if I'd known I would not have brought it up."

"You didn't know so don't worry about it." Jerry said.

"Listen to your cousin, he's giving you good solid advice on seeking some help. This has to be really hard and I don't like seeing you so down in the dumps. Well, Stella and I have to go. I have some things to prepare for tomorrow's court date. Take care and hope to see you again soon. Later."

"Later Steve and thanks for your apology even though it's not needed."

"See you and Stella later." I said.

"Don't think about counseling. Do it. Hear me? I care, Lance and Betty too. Call us. I need to bring the girls over to see your little paradise anyway as well as visit with Dave, Karen and the kids and don't forget Sally." I continued.

"Yeah, Sally's been away at school but she has been my rock through this so far."

"Not surprising since you saved her life when she was just a little more than knee high. I mean it bud, call me anytime, day or night. I'll drop whatever I'm doing and come your way if need be. Well, that is unless the girls and I are out on the road like I had planned when I hit the big one. We're going to take off after their semester is over for a couple of weeks or so at a time to see some of the country."

"Good, it sounds like you have been busy with a lot of good things. It will do you some good to get away a bit yourself." He said.

He held out his hand to shake but when I took it, I pulled him in for a hug and pat on the back.

"Let's not be strangers, we need to get together more often. I'll head your way soon and bring the girls. Capeesh?"

"Yeah, I'd like that. Besides you need to see Danny and Cassie soon. They are both growing like weeds."

"Got it, I'll call you next week to see how you are doing and set up a day to come that way. Now get out of here and stay safe. We'll talk later."
