For a few moments the emotion got the better of Geoffrey, and he couldn't speak. He crushed her tightly against his chest letting her know how he felt, but then the tightness in his throat cleared and he responded.
"Ruth, I think you know I feel the same. Last night you inspired me, and you still inspire me. Like you, I want more and more than just your body. I want your heart. I know you're going to laugh, but the highlight of my night was when you demanded that I stay so you could awaken in my arms this morning."
Geoffrey kissed her gently, then his eyes turned hard and fierce. With determination and menace in his voice he said, "Today we begin our quest to regain your kingdom and your new title should be Queen Ruth."
