Julian, A lovely story in a historical setting, it was good to be able to get Thorrin’s perspective and see him mature as the story progressed. His PTSD (using the modern term) was probably quite realistic, and the ending was perfect. The story was well written but there were a few typos and missing or misplaced words that might have been corrected to reduce distractions. 4.6 stars, rounded up, and best wishes in the contest.

Frankly I'm not sure why I stuck it out until the end. in your prologue you specifically mention that if you're looking for gore, look somewhere else, so i was unpleasantly surprised to have the gory details come through in Thorrin's memories. There's also a major plot point that I think was weird was the knife fight with the concubines ... seems like there would have been repercussions for his knife fight with the concubines of the rich powerful guy.
