Brilliant story all the way through let down by a weak ending. Yes they both got what they wanted, but surely they live happily ever after could have been replaced by their love like a mighty oak/redwood grew from strength to strength and like a rose, their careers and life blossomed

How about this for an alternative ending? “And they lived happily ever after as one rose became two, and two blossomed into three and later four! It was just The Beginning!”
