tiny quibbles - I think one reader already mentioned that Americans don't refer their country as 'America'. They call it the U.S., U.S.A. or the States, among other terms. And they don't usually use 'bloody' as a swear-word. It's the Brits who use them (I don't know if Aussies, Kiwis or South Africans use 'bloody' as well). Since you're not American, but are writing a story about an American teenager, I think she should speak more like it. Tip: maybe you could watch more Hollywood movies? =) For a first novel, this is quite good.
