Interesting story.

Wanted to suggest to use names less when characters are speaking, there's no need to say partner's name in a dialogue unless you want to empathize or point out something. So

"See you tomorrow Bill."

"Yes please, I will make us burgers on the grill."

Should be

"See you tomorrow" I've said

"Yes please, I will make us burgers on the grill." Bill answered
