We're in the know, having stayed in Room 11 at least twice; other rooms on other occasions. You described it to a T in all respects, so I can certainly vouch for your recollections.

It wasn't quite as fancy (or expensive!) when we experienced it under the previous owner. But it was still great fun. So the new folks converted the lounge into a disco... makes sense.

We have our own story about encounters there. I'll post it once I get the feel of this site and what does or doesn't get past the editors.
