Judging from this and Up From Ashes, fantasy is your genre and you write it very well indeed. The theme of this story is clever and I will be interested to see how things develop.
The story feels like the memory of a dream, but it evokes reality: the injustice of slavery, the civil war, the uncertain fate of war refugees, the differences between British and American culture.
Once Angela enters Wonderland, the story also evokes elements of Christian faith. There is the notion that her family had given their lives out of unconditional love, so she may be saved. When she enters the lake, it feels like an immersive baptism.
It is highly symbolical that the guardianship is passed from a man to a woman. The patriarchical rule has outlived its purpose. There is a brief mention of a mother (as opposed to a father) in heaven.
I sense the influence of another highly respected author here. May Angela find Alice, just like the two authors found each other here on literotica for the purpose of storytelling and lovemaking.
Genius! What style! What tone! What humour! All this and lovely use of semicolons! I'm in awe.
All the kind words are deserved Mama. Mama Serrada is also the presiding genius in the "Out West" series we are writing together. If you enjoyed this, there is more to come, and in the meantime, do pop over to mine to read "Out West" where Mama S and Pixie appear in fictional guise. xxx
Pixie thank you but hush, that is mostly you. Seriously, go read that story, it is superb (if I do say so myself, and I did) and principally because of you my lovely and exceptionally talented muse. xxx
