This series gives me really bad vibes

It's almost as if someone condensed negative stereotypes about womens from a "redpill" perspective and shaped both the MC and the characters accordingly.

Also there's an everlasting doubt if they're really obtuse or the MC portrays them like this for justifying his actions

As you point out, the eponymous "Whale" is a somewhat shoddy narrator when it comes to actual and perceived slights inflicted on him by the women in his life.
