The arbitrary nature of the 'punishment' in this just feels off. Like, discipline isn't a kink of mine but what's the point of a punishment if the reason is unclear?

Surely if it's to correct a certain misbehaviour then it would be essential to make it clear why they are being punished?

Otherwise isn't it just a random whipping just because the Dom wants to whip someone. Which sure if it's all safe and consensual go ahead. But the framing of it like the submissive has done something wrong but not telling them what, it's odd and gives it this feeling that the relationship isn't all that healthy.
