To answer the author's question, Sure. But you have set up a likely miserable existence for Emma. Possibly a tragic end if the dark path she's on is continued. Or maybe John finds out Emma has walked his body down the path he intends once he gets it back? No contact could be she's in a self destructive spiral and he only finds out when news is seen or word gets to him of tragedy. Alternately, she has taken all the transition steps he thought about during that time period and should the aliens return them to themselves, they would each get what they want? He may want to figure out exactly what her aims/desires were regarding life/relationships and to whom she had any interest. Or if it was just a set of characteristics she wanted her future mate to have, he should look in earnest for men meeting those characteristics. Gift her an already developed relationship with all the pleasant memories she would have wanted to have. Then, when each is returned, their paths have already majorly progressed toward their futures.

There could be a book of possibilities with where this story could go. I would look at every one of those ideas you put forth, in fact I hadn't thought maybe the two of them try to be good custodians of the others bodies, made memories, should a swap back to their former selves happen. I'd certainly consider playing with this story in the future... Be something to write Kizantz coming back, maybe John already transitioned, certainly explore some of the spicier aspects of the swap for John in Emma's body, and maybe some conflict - like Emma in John's body does transition and likes where she's at. Maybe she's conflicted in whether GCS is necessary? IDK, so many routes to go... Appreciate the comment and insights! XOXO - Rachel

Love this to continue, but I kinda feel sorry for Emma (now John). John got his wish to become female, but Emma seems at odds with her new reality.
