First off great story. But I'm left conflicted. Mama want to eternally protect her baby's. But not right keeping them forever.
The whole family is basically imprisoned, but it's difficult to imagine a more pleasant 'cell'. All their bodies' needs are supplied constantly and willing sex partners abound.
Well, that's unfortunate. Life is nothing without struggle and triumph, victory and defeat. I was hoping Boy and Girl would reach the freedom they sought, but it seems Mama has the ultimate victory, until either the supply of incubation fluid is exhausted, the filters break, or, in the unlikely event that neither of those things happen, capacity is exceeded.
1: get humans to their new planet.
2: keep humans alive and healthy, except when doing so would conflict with the first rule.
3: keep humans in their incubation tubes, except when doing so would conflict with the first or second rule.
Very asimovian.
