Weirdly enough, I have more of a problem with Bill and Kathy not being engaged yet than Bill and Valerie still remaining unconsumated. Why wouldn't they be engaged? They're in love, out of school, employed and this is happening 50 years ago. I'd like to get some insight into what their thinking is.

Agree with CZOFTW in that there is no reason for them not to be engaged now that they are settled with jobs and a home. The best way for that to happen would be with both sets of parents there and of coarse Valerie as she started the whole thing in motion. Hope that's where this is heading. Many of these stories just leave off at the assumption that that is what will happen without actually telling that part of the tale.
