I know sone saw it as homophobic. It did have a Chasing Amy: a deep dicking can turn any lesbian type of vib. A true lesbian isn't going to be turned straight by a guy. Some bisexual or pansexual people don't fully understand their own sexuality until years into their adult life. Still her verbal assault on her ex girlfriend about her new lover being better because had had a real dick felt cruel. It was hard to read. Still, in the heat of the moment, after one's lover has screwed another, bitter insults seem understandable. Having said all that, I can state that I really enjoyed reading the story.
There were a lot of funny parts. Thanks for the laughs and the great writing.
I'm going to have to read this a few more times. I can't recollect any homophobic parts as some have said. Maybe they were trying to be funny.
I find it hilarious how seriously some folks take a light hearted story such as this, throwing insults and accusations around with wild abandon. But, I guess thatβs the internet anymore. Humor and fun is disallowed. We must all be super serious at all times, and be sure to check all the appropriate boxes on the social justice chart!
As for me, this is a nice funny story with a happy ending for two good people.
"Wall safe behind the Rembrandt" - has got to be one of the best lines on this whole site
2nd x just as good as the first. π―ππ―π―π―π―π―ππππππ―π―πππππ€·ππ€·π€·πβοΈπππ»π
Great story laced with romance sex and humor. All the ingredients of a well written good story.
I reread this one often. Enjoy it every time. Well written, fun, just the right length. Checks all the boxes.
Candy switched side too quickly to be believable but fictions the prodjuct of the author's imagination, right ?
Think I missed something was she bi or homosexual? Oop that was a dumb question lol obvi she is bi. Ok found it before I go on yes it was funny and I enjoyed it. but homosexual and heterosexual don't work that way there's no switch but yeah rest of it was funny good just hope they don't marry.
Re-read again. Still a fantastic, humorous story. Just makes s person feel good. Obviously, still a five star story.

Great story. Was kinda hoping the ending would include his workmates reactions when they discover hes "straightened out" the hottest girl at work. And his ex-fiance seeing him walk down the aisle with a way hotter girl.
Well done! Pretty good story and humorous. Reminds me of author Harddaysnight style. Struck home too. My sister was supposedly a confirmed lesbian in college, with a female partner, but then ended up marrying a nice guy in shortly after graduation. 25 years later and they are still married with two near adult kids. I think people's 'swing' can be more flexible than many think at a young age. Her 'girlfriend' found a 'wife' and they remained friends, at least as far as I knew. Nice to see it handled with such aplomb and humor.
I am pretty sure this is AT LEAST the 2nd time I have read this tale...and it is STILL HILARIOUS ...from the look on Civ's face when Candy kissed Don...to the end of the story when Ben reveals he has known about Candy's leanings..."Does this mean you are not a lesbian anymore??"...just TOO classic to not heartily enjoy!!
I read down a bunch of comments...did not see anything 'negative', so to speak...obviously, Candy must have had some "Bisexual" tendencies, or this would not have turned out so successfully!! If someone has commented negatively, that is on them, and NOT on 'leapyearguy'!!
Justifiably a Five**5**Star story...ππππππ«π«π«π«π«ππππππ―

Hey @chasbo38
Re: "Candy switched side too quickly to be believable but fictions the prodjuct of the author's imagination, right ?"
Actually...nope.
I knew a couple ofyoung women who were in a committed relationship together for years, but after a particularly brutal lie - one had her friends tell her GF she had been hit by a car and killed (but in actuality, she moved states) the other girl's next lover was a guy she ended up marrying and having kids with before her untimely death,
So, yes it can indeed happen, where a person is actually Bisexual or even Omnisexual/Pansexual (attracted to all sexual genders from Cisgender - Straight opposite sex to the entirety of the LGBTQIA+)
Ok, just randomly read this story, and I was laughing all the way through it, at points tears were streaming I was laughing so hard. Very good silly story. Just added to my favorites.
Made my day, thanks for writing.

My third time reading this, and the comment about the cleaning supplies behind the Rembrandt still cracks me up. Good fun.
People quip about sexual orientation being 'wired', yet men who like other men and women who like other women have married and had children for centuries, if not millennia. It can't all have been just deceit and cover-up. If it's wired, then it's biological and I don't think people's neurons are wired digitally like 'On'=gay, 'Off'=straight. I met my first wife while in grad school, while she was an undergrad. She lived with her female roommate, and it was obvious that they were not just that. Yet we had an instant attraction and 'hit it off', becoming a committed couple and moved into together after 8 months. She told me about her 'relationship' with the roommate as lover but said it was over. We even invited her over and had an upfront discussion over drinks, and she ended up at our wedding, and an 'auntie' to our two kids. Did I ever wonder? No, not really, and her former companion had another female lover, and I do know from my wife that they "didn't share". So our two daugthers got to have TWO aunties, albeit one was a bit 'dykey'. And, hey, this was Los Angeles in the 90s. Did her parents know? Never came up, although they seemed delighted she had a commited male companion at 25. I did wonder because they were always so 'grateful'.
Leapyearguy captures this dynamic with almost HardDaysNight style humor and panache. Well done!
This was more a comedy than a romance. But many women are bi-sexual. So it isn't a big deal when they end up in a normal marriage and have children. A bisexual woman is more common than a bisexual man.
A sequel that challenged the relationship would be good. She was a lesbian for a while. what if she had doubts? What if a past lover tries to pull her back in or pry her away? Ultimately is want a story that answers those questions without damaging what they have. This heartwarming story established them as an unlikely sweet couple.
Great characterization, excellent scenario and really enjoyed the humor. And great insight into the former so-called "lover" and the nature of that relationship. You hit the nail on the head there. The Other Woman was all about self and that's typical. The lesbian/gay relationships are all about wanting what they want, and getting it the way they want, and when they want, and how they want. They miss the point about real love being complimentary, not being the same. About real love meaning you give in to others and are concerned for their best, not just yours. It's about playing a melody , when it's supposed to be a harmony. Homosexuality is all about selfishness.
Wow, what a great story. Now I have a need for more candy. A follow up series would be great
Plot twist with absolutely no justification shown in the character development.
Not even a hint she might be bi.
"Oh I didn't realize dicks really are great, so I'm suddenly in love."
One of the best, funniest, stories on the site! I've read this a number of times and never fails to bring enjoyment.
OK, I had to put parts of my brain on hold a bit, but I liked it. Very cute and sweet. Entertaining.
I don't give many 5's but you got one. Original LW.
I can't remember how many times I've read this. But it's worth every one of them :)
The story was a real lifter. Fun and entertaining all in one. Great theme and has a promise of a good ending; which came at the right time.
The quick switch could cause whiplash but was still a good tale, even the third time! Thank you.

10* story! As was said before, the whiplash at the end could cause damage, but only to your laughter vocal cords. More stories needed.
