i like the way your characters dwell in the setting and i think you do a fine job of making it come to life. i'm reminded, in fact, of anais nin's same proficiency while reading. my sole complaints: as much as i enjoy it, i would have enjoyed seeing even more of the environment, and that there was more to read.
