Duddle, this story was scary....good for Halloween. I was picturing the cemetaries in Eruope from the 1800's. Only one thing, cadavours may work better for the surgeons and a trip to the morgue by your friends...lol

I was lead through the story with so amny various venues this story could go, I was pleased with the ending and had to laugh. well, written (~_~) good luck and happy halloween

The ending was a bit abrupt, but overall, a funny little Halloween vignette.

But it needs more...

I love the fireside story feel to the piece! Although it lacks some in descriptiveness the style works for the horror feel...Although I think the bold "scene names" distract from the overall flow of the story...

Also the ending felt rushed...Not so much horrifying...Almost as if this is the genesis of a horror story..."This is the story of ol' man Higgens and the runnaway cart"...And then the kids around the campfire encounter him...

Although it could've use a tad more polish, the piece was solid and works very well as a vignette. I got an excellent feel of character, especially from the Doctors in the begining.

and would be impossible to imitate! I don't think you need the boldface "signposts". They distract from the flow of the story and make it more choppy. Good luck!

Very nice story. The time piece of horse and buggy going to a dark graveside was a great touch. I had a sense of being in that black graveyard. *shivers* Jack W.

My children were dressing up in Halloween clothes tonight (a bit early, I know) and reading your excellent story later in the evening just made me feel all shivery with anticipation...

It really does read like a ghost story told around the campfire after a drink or two.
