Chapter 2 of A Very Long Journey is unfortunately not very long, and should have been much longer, given the quality of writing and storytelling by the excellent author. The author is correct that Chapter 1 should be read before this one in order to make sense of this chapter and to appreciate the story overall. This reviewer is of the opinion that Chapter 1 is must reading if one is to really appreciate this story. Five stars.
