"Fuck you! Make me!"
"I'm warning you one last time James. Get out of my house. Or else!" she spat.
"Or else what?" He scoffed.
"Or else you'll regret it!"
"You gonna get your Grandpa to kick me out? He's not looking so shit-hot, is he?" he laughed wickedly. "Go on then? Make me, you cunt! What've you got?"
Karen started to grin. "I've got a husband." She looked right at me and said quietly, "Knock his fucking lights out."
James turned to me laughing. "Are you fucking seriou-"
So, to cut a long story short... I broke James's jaw and put him in hospital with his mouth wired shut. I also broke two of my own fingers punching him, but you know, it was worth it, just to see the look of triumph on my wife's face. Cuckolding aside, I'd endured fifteen years, give or take, of school-yard mockery, bullying and torment, at the hands of this prick and here he was, hurting my wife. No. At last, finally, I had to stand up for myself and she'd given me the permission I needed to hear.
A week later, James's lawyer's informed us that he was suing us for grievous bodily harm and he sent Karen and I a private message telling us he was going to upload every bit of pornographic media he'd recorded of her onto the internet. Chances are she'll lose her job. Maybe I will too. Perhaps we'll even need to move home?
"Whatever comes of it," I told her, "We'll see it through together. I don't care if we have to live under a bridge in a cardboard box. I love you. I always will." Crying with shame and gratitude and love, she clung to me body and soul.
Our friends rallied around us too when we described what had happened. We had to physically restrain Samantha, who wanted to find James and knock his teeth down his throat. They were wonderful, desperate for us to accept their help and support when and however we needed it. So did John, who, to our great relief, had made a full recovery after a night of observation in hospital. He offered his home to us if we needed, inviting us to move in if it ever came to it.
Whatever the future holds, I'm quietly confident we'll see it through. At least that's the bullying-prick out of our lives now.
