Wow! You've really captured the essence of overlapping and powerful emotions; I bet that was fun to write. What a compelling story, and really great characters. Frankly, I was looking for a little more salacious sex, but it was a great story.

This is one of the best story's I've ever read. By page two I didn't even care that there hadn't been any sex at all. I cried and I laughed. Just a great story.

you gave me some tears thinking of Christmas past and of some people I miss and can never see again. My mother used to take in every Christmas orphan my brothers and I would bring home. Friends, girlfriends, neighbors, it made it all special.

@ Anonymous "Holy" - Funny you should mention the hall of fame. Over time most stories slowly settle in to one score and stay there, while they drop down the top lists and Hall of Fame. There is 'score' creep on Literotica, and the highest scores slowly creep upward every year, by about .01-.02. This particular story started lower, and in spite of the huge number of view and votes, continues to climb upward. It went from around 30th to the #1 spot in Romance about a month ago. At first it had the same score as the other top stories, just more votes. A few days ago it was the highest scoring story in Romance, as well as having the most votes in the TopList. I owe that to all my readers and deeply appreciate it. It's dropped .01 since then, but it's still number 1. Clearly it is teetering on the edge of moving up that .01

I don't write a lot of Romance, but I have two more longer stories that should be coming out in the next few weeks, one of them for the Halloween Contest. It will be in the Erotic Horror category, because of the contest elements, but it is a Romance at heart, and I hope you all enjoy it. So far the beta readers are very happy with it, but we'll see how they feel when it is done. The other story is a pure Romance that I started for the Summer Lovin' Contest. It grew too long for the contest, and will be completed after the Halloween contest, and my Two Moms, Two Laps series. It appears to be 3 chapters long, but it may run as long as 4.

Thanks again for the great comments and feedback, and I hope to return the favor the only way I really can, with a couple more good stories.

I don't normally leave comments on this site, but this story is so exceptional that I had to. I've been somewhat of a fan of yours for a few months, having read most of what you've published here, and they are all excellent stories. This story, though, tugged on my heartstrings so hard that I found seeing the screen difficult through the tears. In my life (61 years so far), I can count on my 10 fingers the stories that lingered with me for more than a little while... and this is going to be one of those. It is both heart-wrenching and heart-warming. This story would stand on its own without the sex, but the sex is a nice, added touch.

2 hours of my Sunday... worth it! Teared up multiple times. The ending line, "Christmas will never be the same. But I'm not complaining" was an awesome reconciling moment. It was a touching echo of Cathy's powerful line, "It'll never be the same. But it may still, someday, be Ok." Anyways, loved it.
