There is backstory to this. A lot of backstory. You can find the beginning at https://archiveofourown.org/works/37483321. There is a second book, incomplete, that takes place four years after the linked story ends, but I haven't published any of it yet. This particular story was just an idea for a future chapter. I wanted to see how I felt about my characters in this situation.
