As always, your writing is great. All the characters have consistent personalities and realtionships, the action is clear and purposeful, and the attention to detail in the world really created a reading experience I consider to be one of my favorites on the site. Your story just pulls you in like a truely engaging novel and is so fun to read. See you for part 2!

Honestly I think you're too hard on yourself this was an excellent chapter! I wouldn't change anything.

Alien tentacle erotic horror was never my thing but after reading these stories I never knew how turned on they would make me! Fantastic writing with a great plot, can't wait for part 2

Well holy crap!

This chapter was a lot of fun. I've always liked A'luhr, so the increased focus on her in this chapter was great. The action in particular was really well done, both the knife fighting against the standard drones and A'luhr's use of the propane tank against the abomination.

And damn, that part in the hive, where she made herself throw up the last detonator, followed by the completion of her first successful idiom, as you put it, outright made me cheer. It actually made me really frustrated when they decided to go back for Zoey, since I knew that was going to render it all worthless. Sara telling A'luhr that she was a good friend was touching and honestly pretty sad.

The ending has several explanations. The queen may have departed for the next planet, though one would assume she wouldn't do that if the previous queen hadn't been completely revived yet, so perhaps not (the hive going as dysfunctional as it seems to would indicate that the older queen has not assumed control yet).

I'm eagerly awaiting Part 2, but as always, don't push yourself. Take as long as you need and have fun!

The part where A'luhr bamboozles The Queen actually was supposed to be the finale originally, but after a lot of people we asking for more and I had ideas for part 2, I decided to extend it haha. The detonator did have some other effects that we will learn about in the future though ;) so it wasn't a total waste.

This is definitely the best story series on this site. Hats off to the excellent work.

The only thing bad about this series is that I didn't find it until just now! But no jokes aside amazing job i can't wait for and really hope there's a part two!

Amazing series

I've read this chapter a few times, and I noticed a sizable portion was removed. Any reason why?

Greeting readers! It has come to my attention that about 60% of this chapter was deleted by mistake when I uploaded a recent edit. This explains all the strange emails I've been getting regarding questions about plot holes. Sorry about that! I have uploaded a fix and it will most likely be readable in a couple days :p

As of September 5, the fix you uploaded was never added. Perhaps you could resubmit the amended, complete chapter?

Yeah i'm noticing that it's STILL in pending since Aug 28th, which is very unusual as it's often only about 3-4 days of waiting. I'll try resubmitting and hope that it works this time, but in the meantime, you can also read the chapter on Archive of Our Own. Normally I wouldn't necessarily promote going to another site, but LIT's kinda dropping the ball on this one, tbh.

I've been really backed up with work and other projects since pretty much the start of September :( I'm nearly done with the next LONG side story and I've started chapter 7 (part 2 chapter 1) but I really don't have an idea of when it will be out. I'd love for it to be sometime in December though :P

For those still sticking around, I'm making progress on the next chapter as we speak. Been super busy and publishing other stuff on the side, but looking to get back on track now that I have the story all outlined :) instead of a "part 2" I'm just going to continue this "book" with more chapters. As I have been reading I have to wonder how many people would give themselves over to the aliens seeing how the world around them has fallen apart and day to day life must be so hard. How many people would do it just for the unending pleasure and the wild prospect of sex and tentacles?

I'm glad you've enjoyed it so far! I've asked that question myself haha :P "Not Alone in the Dark" is basically chapter 6.5 that touches on that a bit too. It's not required reading for the main story, but it will help answer some questions.

My goal is either late this month or October! It's been a long while for sure haha... I've been busy with work, moving, and various other obligations over the past 6 months, but I want to put out the next chapter and another, different short story for Halloween :) thanks for your continued patience all!

There's just one problem with this story, in a life and death situation with the fate of the world at stake, humanity would not hesitate to use the nukes. The many references within of "You can't shoot you might hurt someone!" are just straight up laughable.

Not only would we open fire, but we would use every weapon at our disposal.

There are actually a LOT of problems with the story lol, but that's why suspension of disbelief is required for many science fiction tales xD though as for the nukes, due to the global nature of the invasion, that would mean carpeting the entire planet with nukes, which I have a hard time believing would be feasible or desirable :p
