"The first that she crossed to was prone on a long stone bench in the midst of a wild clump of lilies." I got to this sentence and stopped reading. One of my pet leaves is the misuse of the word prone. "Prone" means lying Face down on your stomach. "Supine" is the word for lying on your back.
