Some of your quotes for dialogue are all over the place. That got immensely distracting when it happened repeatedly. The story was decently built, though.

Really well told and there are some clearly placed crumbs for future plot lines laid out in this chapter. A little more than two pages a chapter would be easier on my heart so I don't anticipate the next release as much - 5*
