However, one final bit of informal business was an announcement Barnes made on behalf of Sam regarding tomorrow's auction. There were a dozen small meeting rooms that each had a computer and screens to look at the girls available for the auction. Each team had an assigned room. As soon a Barnes gaveled the meeting "over" Joe was beside himself thanking me. He really figured that Barnes would set him against two or three of his "buddies." By splitting support Pope knew he would get knocked out of the running, and Barnes would pick his #2. Based on the "bonus in their checks" comment Pope figured that was likely be me. He was glad he was wrong about where my loyalties were.

I simply said that I meant what I said, about responsibility for past decisions and where I did my best work. I had no need to mention Amy by name.

Since Phil and I were new partners, Abril and Red would be included in the auction, they had filled out the paperwork. In addition, because Joe was in a good mood, he announced that the youngest Church girl, 18-year old Betty Joe, had agreed to be presented to the partners for the first time on the auction block. (She was listed as "possible.") It would be her first exposure to the exchange, so she would wear white as she stood on the spotlit stage. Specifically a single white ribbon.

Pope knew that the old lizards in the room loved to get the claws on inexperienced and gullible teenagers. It made me think about a nature channel show with Komodo dragons hunting their prey, closing in when in stumbled. Joe figured including Betty Joe plus the pair of older Church girls (auctioned as a set) would put him at an advantage. Since every team had only so much to bid the more shekels the three Church girls commanded the less money that other teams would have to bid against him.

Back when the extended weekend social with an auction/orgy was first discussed, Vi and Joe had different reactions.

Joe was looking forward to participation with more variety of women and more sex acts allowed. He wasted no time in putting the two Church girls up for the auction block. They were looking forward the four guys pleasing them at once - or more likely, finishing one and then starting right away on the next. Joe Pope had never had Rose Barnes as his wife-exchange match, he thought maybe that was not just chance. Plus every partner wanted Abril, why shouldn't he win her lovely body for the night? All the paperwork and the web site work had been done for Betty Jo the weekend before, "just in case." The couple had never talked about this or any contingency. The fact that Joe did not consult Vi, and that Betty Jo was already "on the board" made Vi think that maybe she had been strung along by her husband.

Vi had to go for a walk, she did not want the kids to see their new parents fighting.

During the walk Vi happened to run into Gordon Turner, his wife Mindy, and Fred Richards. The two lawyers were over 50, and while Mindy was younger, she was a friend of Vi.

Fred's wife Bonnie was taking part in the auction, at 26 she was half her husband's age. Her advertising page included reference to her history as a porno actress so she should do well. (While age was not a stated factor for Barnes in his assigning spouses, it did seem to be a subjective factor. All of these people had found themselves matched with the others their age more often than expected. They agreed this was really not a negative.)

The "pace" comment reminded Vi about one of the emails which suggested those who were not in the auction might do something informally with each other Saturday night, perhaps after observing the auction where the teams of wolves bid on tasty morsels of young flesh wearing skimpy clothing... or maybe none at all.

Mindy and Gordon mentioned that they had never seen their spouse with another lover, which had been one of the selling points of the auction-orgy. After that Vi and Fred were clearly thinking the same thing - about enthusiastically helping make such a sight possible. When she got back to their room Vi was feeling a lot better. In her mood she was happy to help the girls practice, one more time, how each of the Church girls were at pleasing a woman at the same time as Joe was working the girl out with his cock. Most of the women who signed up for the auction chose to advertise with special pictures and a brief text description about the auction and what they preferred to happen overnight. The first ad went up on the law firm internal network the day I got back from Peru in August. The format was for a head shot, a bikini shot (no nudes, meaning no exposed nipples or slits), and a comment. More ads were added each day, and existing ads were sometimes modified with new pictures or text.

Red set up a general web site for this using the computer firm's domain, so anyone with a law firm ID could log in. After the first wave of ads went up most of the 40 women put up pictures by Friday of the holiday weekend.

During the partner's quick meeting at the resort Friday, the site was moved to the resort hotel, where access was restricted to the 12 team meeting rooms that were set up, allowing the teams to browse the ads together and work out strategies.

Each team gathered to scan the ads. Here are some of what we looked at.

Jessica Stern was the first to post and modified her ad at least once. She was up front about her intentions. "Hi all, Sondra Chaste-Suners here." It was her pseudonym as an author, and she used it because she was stepping out of character.
