This was a nice read. Very intriguing little story. It left a lot of unanswered questions, but not everything needs to be revealed, definitely not in such a short story. I liked the descriptions of her conflicted feelings. I was a little dubious of how she was too afraid to sleep, but still stubbornly wouldn't leave... if you're that scared, how come you don't just flee no matter how big a deposit you've put down? But that's nitpicking. This worked well as a kind of "what if" scenario.
