That evening David stood waiting at baggage claim, scanning the crowd rushing by for his wife. She should be here soon, he thought. He was worried - what had gone wrong that she cut short what was supposed to be her two-day holiday? He worried about which Diane would appear - his loving wife or the woman who seemed to have an unfulfilled need when he had left yesterday morning.
He spotted her coming down the escalator, looking lovely in the same outfit she had worn going into Puerto Rico. She was looking for him from the elevated view and saw him when he waved. Her happy smile lifted his heart; his loving wife had returned. He walked toward the escalator and met her halfway. They embraced, quickly kissed and he pulled back to look into her eyes.
"Welcome home," he said. "I missed you. Is everything OK?"
Diane looked up at him with the expression of love he had hoped for. "It is now that I'm back," she told him. "Back in your arms."
The rushing crowd of travelers flowed by, barely noticing the couple that couldn't seem to let go of each other. They had their own lives to get to.
