"Spoilsport," she grinned. "And there was me feeling, what is your English word, horny?"

My phone buzzed; it was Mac.

"Just checking you were okay. We have secured the crime scene here and I am about to head back."

"Thanks Mac, but as I just told Anna, I am fine."

"Wanted to make sure."

A few moments later a car stopped by us, it was Mac.

"You two sure you don't want a lift? I was going for a drink?"

"I am fine, Mac."

"Would that offer extend to a refugee?" Anna grinned.

"It would," Mac confirmed with a grin, "get in."

And in she got, and away they drove. A girl did not need too much imagination to know how their night was going to end.

I went on, alone.

I texted the journalist, Maddie, to say I had a story for her. She texted right back.

I told her the story of the night's events.

"Robin, let me contact the Mail, I do some work for them as a stringer, I just have time for them to change their front page. Let me get back to you."

I was just opening my front door when the phone buzzed again.

"They want it, they will run it tomorrow - hope you don't mind your wet tee-shirt being used again. They said they had a picture of this Dimitri. Thanks Robin, this will be great. I can follow up next week with the more reflective piece on your work. This will give it much more of a profile."

I smiled to myself. More "Randy Rev" in the morning papers. Perhaps I was in the wrong job?

I undressed and showered, putting my nightdress on and, yet again, spending a night alone; but at least it was by choice. I would need to phone Jane in the morning. But that, as they say, was sufficient unto the day thereof. I prayed and slept the sleep of the just.

I am glad that the story is now on track to a just conclusion. Although that conclusion might not be quick, since there is much left to resolve.

Perhaps Anna got as good as hitched, but what about Jane? And the new player on the scene, Maddie?

Thank you so much, Anonymous, and you will see in the next chapter that something if a reward comes to our heroine xxxxx

What to say? Miss Pixiehoff has me deep in contemplation again. Balancing a non-judgmental attitude with a moral person’s natural reaction / response when witness to illicit cruel injustices is tricky. Not only must a moral person "judge" the witnessed act(s) to be cruel and unjust, but they must then take the often difficult and dangerous step(s) of saying something and / or doing something. Robin is the embodiment of “good judgment”, letting her faith and her conscience be her guide as she navigates the challenging and complex world she is living in. The "bad judgement" of those who unconscionably focus on Robin’s sexuality to the detriment of the well being of the exploited and abused refugee women is infuriating, and suspect. - Some / many in society seems to silently tolerate widespread criminal human trafficking of women by heterosexual misogynists, but are vocally intolerant of a wonderful human being like Robin having a relationship with another woman and serving as a reverend. Strange… Regardless, I do hope, now that Robin has intervened and made so many other women’s lives better, that she receives / enjoys a "personal reward" of some kind. I look forward to a satisfyingly hot ending to this wonderfully slow burn of a story. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿

Thank you, Dr B, the next chapter should be up later, and there is at least one more to this part of her story. I am so glad that you feel as you do xxxxx

Dr B; Superb, just superb, seems a shame that it's ended here, perhaps a final chapter to put this part of Robin's tale to rest, as I for one will miss this story. I fr one have loved how you have combined a sad, disturbing story of people trafficking and sexual exploitation of women fleeing for their lives with a female vicar struggling to keep her sexual identity and feeling separate from her calling. As you know, I was raised as a Catholic, but I'm now seriously `lapsed', but Robin's story and how she expresses her thought's are far more true to how people who consider themselves `Christian' behave. If people were to read, think and behave in the way Jesus is supposed to have spoken perhaps this shithole of a world would be a better place. Five stars naturally Pixie, should be more and I for one can not wait for your next story and please, pretty please, more of the `Randy Robin', even if she never actually gets it one. OXOXO, love Dr B.

There is no easy answer, MIgbird, though the next chapter does refer to it, and shows that Robin is not blind to that dimension. xxxxx

Robin like several other characters you’ve created is so rich/nuanced - intriguing while being so transparently honest/available to understand. This adventure brings suspense/drama blended beautifully with the thought provoking. Love the array of characters surrounding Robin — the good, bad and curious. Looking forward to what follows. Intrigued by the oft heard POV/argument expressed in your line: “It is so easy to say 'wait,' when it costs you nothing." So very true when viewed from the vantage point of the one suffering/about to suffer the cost. Interesting to ask why those not suffering or likely to suffer any cost would say ‘wait’? No simple answer.
