This has been a great story and you succeeded in making it very emotional. I suppose it wouldn't have been so emotional if you hadn't had him die and before that tricking us I to thinking at what might have been an affair but I was hoping for them to sail into a happy old age after finding Tanya in jail for stealing songs. An easy 5 stars.
First time replying ive read many stories on here. This has been the 2nd to move me to tears at the end of it. Good deal and writting
Nice
This became a wonderful family story. I didn't need to be about revenge because he took care of everything. Just an awesome family. Kudos.
Five Stars
I really like your stories but tragic endings truly bother me. Would it be possible to please give a warning/disclaimer next time? I'd really appreciate it because I enjoy your writing a lot but would just like to skip the sad ones. Thank you for submitting though.
Great story in every respect. Character development is particularly strong. This took a lot of effort to conceive, develop, write, edit and publish. Many thanks for all that effort and for such a fine, evocative tale.
(I think you've also crafted a worth benchmark for other authors too!)
Yep, what everyone else has said. As they used to say ‘a bloody good yarn’.
But how many people were disappointed in him for having a secret relationship for four years until they found out it was cancer? Stoney you’re a little tinker (English phrase look it up).
This was quite a jealous ride for me. All those great success and few bumps for MC. Amazing Grace could have been an apt title for this one
Wow - What a ride! You had me scared he was doing something stupid toward the end. I didn't see the cancer coming - simply well done and one of the best stories I've read in LW. 5+*
Just a well written wonderful story. Thank you and I'll look forward to your next offering.
Fabulous! Many may complain, but the development of characters was great. Although this last chapter was very compressed, I felt the joy and sadness of the family as they mourned Robbie. More!
It's a shame that you let your protagonist go like that. But still, the story was really excellent. In a nutshell, this story would have made an equally good impression in romance. Thanks for sharing it with us! 5/5!!!
Darned StoneyWebb!
Just as I get near the end, you somehow caused dust to get in my eyes!
5 stars from me :)
What can I say, great story, found it hard to wait for each chapter to come out, thank you for your contribution.
Well I must say I saw the cancer coming, maybe it was something to do with reading this while waiting for radiotherapy... I think he would have struggled keeping treatment a secret from dawn unless she was pretty inattentive, but hey, not gonna argue.
I will say there's nothing macho about dealing with it on your own and when they find out after you die, there's a good chance they will be angry as hell at you.
I digress, this would have been far better delivered in one or two chunks rather than 6 and would probably be more suited to romance, still all in all a good job. Thanks.
tear jerker ty for the emotion. 3rd time was a charm for him. a bit weird that he didnt stop when he found out about the C to spend time with family. but then them musicians can have weird priorities
man, those are some weird ass recommendations connected to this story might need to work on them tags a bit there. sorry web, just too weird not to comment on it
Too much death with this COVID we have lost family friends. I was hoping to escape death for a little while. Took a chance on a Guitar Player and lost
Hated the ending! No Stars for you! You also got the part union part wrong. They know what they are doing, and would not be party to the petty B S that you describe. But this is a work of fiction, and I'm sure you have some perfectly fake reason for your neocon prejudices.
Nicely written. But there are too many stories about how inordinately successful people become and are beloved, when those things just do not exist in reality. At the end, there was little drama but only schmaltz. Still worth reading.
You have written an outstanding story series the ending was good. Thank you for writing & stay safe
This is the best story that I have read in a long time. I have added you as one of my favourite authors and look forward to reading your next story
Sweet story. Dawn made his life so much better with the family they had together.
I loved it. I was checking every day for a new chapter. Well done SW, well done, indeed.
Overall, a nice feelgood story which I enjoyed as a whole. But the way it's structured makes the flow stutter more than it should. For example, this chapter feels like it's an extended epilogue, which would have made more sense in a large single-chapter story, or at most 2-3 chapters. But in a chapter this short, it feels odd, almost like I missed the ending and the main arc of the story was already over.
I've been a StoneyWebb fan since I read his first story. This is by far his best story to date. This is the kind of story that wins awards on Literotica. Congratulations Stoney.
Well done, I enjoyed the overall read. This last chapter cover way too many years. Didn't really need to know about his grand kids, nor about him dying.
Some structure mistakes otherwise a great story ,very rare to have a real loving wife story.these days. Why did the author put out those two page shorts, this story could have been done in 2-3 posts . Thank you for writing .
This whole chapter was unnecessary. It was little more than a three page epilog.
Good….but disappointing. Throughout this whole story, there was a “detachment” about it all in the telling. One aspect was how years sped by in a flash. Another was lack of interaction between the principles. It just lacked emotion.
.
And how utterly trite to have Robbie die of cancer…and that he kept his illness from his family.
.
Finally…..No confrontation with Tanya? The interaction with her near the end was….lame.
.
3 ***. Disappointingly average.
very well done, a great love story that had a great twist to the ending. Congratulations, the ending was worth the wait.
I have been reading this sight for a long time and this is one of the best stories I have ever read. Thanks for the effort
5 stars, wonderful story even if I personally would have preferred it without the dying ending but thats just a personal opinion. A nice epic story about love and loss. I especially like that while Robbie started down the path he didn't go full BTB despite enjoying those stories. Sometimes a life well lived is all the revenge needed and Robbie did just that, almost effortlessly got the fame and love while Tanya still struggled.
Yes. Very nice well written story. When you put the first chapter up and announced there would be five more I decided to wait. Glad I did. A hundred virtual stars and five real ones
Thanks so much for the great read. I gave it 5 stars at the end and all chapters will get 5 stars on my next read. Nice to find such a touching story in this Genra
Damn, the dust was really thick in this last chapter. Tears.
Excellent original series about love, loss, new love, forgiveness, misguided ambition, sickness, and death. Very upbeat. We all die, the end was inevitable.
Beautiful story. A classic for the ages.
There should be a way of turbocharging the rating system. Fabulous story about really likable people. Other than the overreach about his secret life everything was just wonderful. It would have been nice to have him retrieve the song he wrote for his grandfather from Tanya. It might not have been on the original sheet, but he'd have it back. And don't musician's have a connection with their musical creations? Wouldn't he have been able to recreate a lot of that music from memory? It's a small diversion from a marvelous love story.
Lifetime stories are usually kinda long, so that was expected. Robbie certainly had his ups and downs, but managed to recover from the betrayal his first two wives visited on him. Dawn pretty much saved him. The love of a GOOD woman can usually heal a hurting mans soul. As in most CW songs, his life ended sadly, but well lived.
what can i say , excellent ,, words wont do it justice , thanks for sharing
There was some anticipation of something bad happening at the end because well it's faced Robbie's life turned out to be pretty amazing
But all in all it was a pretty good story
GREAT STORY - FIVE STARS (since that is all we can give) Thank you for this tale Stoney. Never understand giving a great series 3 stars because of a sad ending. We are only guaranteed one thing in life - death! The happy ending is that life goes on and the family remembers him and loves him.
somewhere east of Omaha
Sad that he could not allow his loved ones to be close enough to him to allow them to grieve with him and each other as well as to prepare themselves for his demise. This was his to do though and they knew his way. LP
i would like to give all six chapters 5* did not rate them individually as i wanted to see how the story panned out i thought it was an enjoyable read well written looking forward to your next story
A great end to great and wonderful story. Thanks for sharing.
Boring, bloated, unrealistic rockstar fantasy. But the anti-union rant made me laugh. You are a good writer but stick with what you know. Music industry isn't like this.
I gotta agree with the Anon who stated that this was “disappointing”. As good as the plot was, the execution was just very dry. I think it is scoring so high because of the plot and not because of the actual delivery of that plot. It just lacked any real “punch”. A “5” is just too high. A “4” at best.
Very boring story. Almost a complete waste of time. It went on and on and on and on. Relatively well written, but a ridiculous waste of time.
I don't get the rave reviews and gushing 5* ratings this story is getting. It's mediocre at best and way too drawn out with six two page chapters. The MC is weak and about as exciting as a wet dish rag and that is being kind. Certainly not this author's best work.
Damn! That was outstanding! Everything came together at the end, in the most unpredictable way. I think I’ve read most of your stories, and this one is IMO, the best.
I waited for all parts before rating it. It was a good story that would have been better served by being in two or three installments instead of six. Maybe flesh it out a bit.
I thought I'd wait until all chapters posted before a comment. As many have said 3 of 4 max chapters probably better, apart from that fairly insignificant note just a big thank you for a good tale well told. 5*
I liked it.
I thought all the comments about boring, were funny. Why’d they stick with it? Is my question….
Agreed, not loving the ending, but it’s your story, you tell it, your way.
5 stars
I'd made comments about the short chapters on some of the other chapters, but have to say now that with chapters released quickly one after the other, by the time of the last few no review was needed.
Thanks for a great story.
I read some of the comments, unreal if you thought this was boring.....what was wrong with it, no cucks?? A real loving wife in Dawn. As the "boring" votes would more than likely give you 2s I upgraded to 5 although more a 4 for me
JJ
Ch. 6 is a bit of an anti-climax. The narrative has gone slack, it just sort of rambles through the decades, as we are briefly introduced to children, then grandchildren, without really getting to know them. It's all telling, no showing : exposition without scenes. Where's the drama?
.
And the story also becomes flaccid with the wish-fulfillment success of the MC. He becomes a superstar. His daughter becomes a superstar. His grandchildren become superstars. There are no struggles, no obstacles, no drama, just dull plotting. A shame, as this story showed some initial promise.
OK. so by now I forget who was reading the journal and just how does all this get into a journal, especially if he is dead? So who wrote it?
My only gripe is that it revolved around Country Music. Yeah, I know, but I can't stand it, sorry. Other than that good story. Keep up the good work.
Disappointed at your ending. Sad that you and other authors need to have a loved wife/husband die.
