"We're alive, Anna," Cassandra said as she embraced her sister closely. "We need to celebrate that instead of feeling guilty. It's what Sherri would have wanted."
The siblings held each other close and kissed softly and sweetly for a while before their appetites turned ferocious. Their rage, their despair, their hopeless longing and that last lingering touch of death faded all away the longer they shared love and affection with each other.

Whew! Well, there you have it! I hope everyone enjoyed reading this series as much as I enjoyed writing it. When I finished Invasion of the Pussy Snatchers I certainly did not believe it would be three years before completing the sequel. Sorry to everyone who waited so long for the follow-up and I want you to know I did appreciate your eternal patience as well as the constant flow of fanmail that gently prodded me to keep writing. I wouldn't say this series is done but a new chapter has been opened in the Hive's story with limitless possibilities so this is where I'd prefer to leave the story for now. The one benefit of writing such a long series is that I tend to come up with lots of great new ideas in the meantime that don't exactly fit within the framework of an existing serial. There should be plenty more new stories to come plus the eagerly awaited sequel to Sisters of the Fallen. Anonymous7 months agoAgree. The Epilogue needs an epilogue, 10 or more years later. Derek as HiveBrother, and Katie maybe pregnant with second child. Earth governments have started new agreements, at least set aside some location/country on Earth exclusivly for the Hive. Maybe even using knowledge/skills of old Queen, the Hive has a Moon/Mars colony.

Not bad overall, would love to have seen a 10yrs or more later. Derek should definitely have been shown as the first HiveBrother, seems well worthy of the title.
May be worth a revisit in the future.

Bokhunalmost 5 years agoBefore I begin let me thank you for sharing your story and vision with us. I had always believed that your story would end with mankind standing at the very cliff of extinction, only to step away having learned a valuable lesson about humanity.
It was all set the men had won, the queen dead, her child needing unconditional love and finding it from a soldier who loved her some out of guilt and some out of hope for the future. Then I read on and thought that man would be our villain making a great redemption story and showing how a child can change a person. Nope, next I thought that Cassandra will take the Queen's power save the Hive and then cut the link freeing the women of the enslavement she raged against and raise her daughter to use her powers responsibly. Again nope, so I got a story where Cassandra turned into the Queen leaving the Hive to do to other women what was done to her as she justifies why.
