It might offend you to offer to admit you need Lord Errol to not only be your guardian, but to also assume complete control over your vast estate. As for Robin? The Polish woman went on, describing the affects of a long-term stay in this place.

"Uncontrollable obsessions. Haven't you noticed that your mind doesn't seem to be your own sometimes?"

"I promise you, Lara: If you stay the entire two years here, you would have a hard time being anything except a domestic servant. You would be a half-mad, woefully repressed little nymphomaniac, who's even afraid of going outside!"

"So, maybe your thinking needs to shift. Because your earlier offers? They are off the table."

Lara's eyes shot open as she heard this news, and she was gripped by a familiar terror. Of course the offers had gotten worse!

"Mrs. Liao still wants your title and you to work for her, but she wants you to finish our domestic school beforehand so you won't embarrass her when you are told to wash the cum from her panties or something like that. Lord Errol, I have already told you his expectation: guardianship over you, and full control of the family fortune. In addition, he wants a salary for taking care of you. Without access to the old estate, you will need to find a way of personally earning that money to pay him. He would be your legal guardian, and you would have to follow his rules."

Lara reeled. It was the antipodal opposite of her old life! From a free-spirited heiress to a strictly micro-managed little debt slave. Toiling away to enrich the very bastard who stole everything from her. And working to provide him with money he didn't even need!

"So consider your attitude, pet. Because the question is not: will you get out of here with your silly title of nobility. That's already settled. The question is: will you get out of here at all?"

Lara felt the snare tightening against her fragile, swan-like neck. Now she had to shift her behavior to in order to please these awful people? And what did she hope to win, at the end of it? A parole where people could freely exploit her in more personal ways? Was it really better than the alternative: a prolonged stay with Miss Galkowska that would certainly drive her as mad as that Russian model?

"Here is the most substantial change you must face," the Polish woman said gravely, interrupting Lara's rumination.

"Your life is no longer about achieving your own positive goals. Instead, you will focus all of your mental energy on avoiding negative outcomes. I know it sounds subtle, maybe even unimportant. But I guarantee you, it will be transformative. When you look at the world, you will no longer see all the bright things you could accomplish. Rather, you will see it as a frightening and overwhelming place. And your only hope for safety will be by conforming perfectly to your mistress' or master's demands. Regardless of their cruelty towards you."

"Enough for today's lesson, though," Miss Galkowska concluded. "Girls, everyone get ready for a trip to the cosmetics unit!"

Lara took her place one step behind Miss Galkowska and followed her down the hallway, unable to comprehend on how much danger she was in right now.
