Thank you for sharing your new world. Very fun and I appreciate the thorough attention to internal logic. Possible idea for further direction if you are interested, perhaps Varsenne's alien pheremones have caused a chemical reaction in her brain and she has to solve the biological puzzle as she feels herself changing. No matter what direction you might choose, this is a fun story and I hope you choose to continue.

And it absolutely needs a continuation. She needs to do it again, there's still so many questions, she barely got a glimpse and she can only commit the answers to her memory, so it's not optional, but well, they can do it again as needed, and perhaps for a longer, better prepared run even.

And that other girl that unmasked her, perhaps Jane find a way to convince her to try it out too. For pure adventure if not otherwise, but also, for whatever experimental value she may invent, for another viewpoint to exclude own biases, but perhaps actually, as ways to somewhat keep her quiet for now.

From strictly technological point though, what the fuck happened with their visual observation drones? High flying, orbital even, or ultra mini mechanical flies that self destruct? Still too risky of technological contamination, some strange agreements or what? But yeah, don't let technical nitpicking to stand in the way... although, maybe another team may have observed her outside, maybe not this time but next (one could possibly expect her to have a tracking implant too, knowingly or not, but we know little about her actual civilization jet, even if it looks to be more or less a Long Now), and even so, there's definitely value for fully immersive research.

And eventually she will have to come out that she's doing it this way. To publish her results if not otherwise. But even better if she gets approval to continue openly. With or without unobtrusive observation following her.
