He grasped his bleeding chest and looked at her wild face in disbelief. His wallet and cellphone were still in his pants. Maybe he didn't need his keys.

"Fine!" he shouted and started to walk away.

He didn't turn towards the stairs though. He kept walking through the living room towards the back of the house.

"Jonathon!?" Elaina shouted after him. "What are you... Hey! NO!"

He threw a chair on the floor behind him and moved as quickly as he could to the sliding door. He made it outside into the frigid winter air in his socks and trudged across the deck into the back yard.

"Jonathon GET BACK HERE!" she screamed at him, as he waded through the deep snowdrifts, ignoring the numbing cold on his feet. Thankfully she didn't have the guts to follow in her bare feet after him. She simply stood in the doorway shrieking until he made it to the fence and threw himself over it into the neighbors yard.

Jon stumbled into the screened-in back porch to look through the large windows into the neighbouring house, seeing Tabitha working out on an elliptical. She opened her mouth in a gasp as soon as she saw him and fell off of it clumsily. He heard her swearing and approached the door. She opened it holding a hand to her forehead, looking over him in concerned shock.

"JON! Oh my GOD! What happened!? Look at you! Get in here!"

He stumbled into the house. "Thanks Tabitha. Sorry I startled you, is your head okay?"

"I'm fine, don't worry about me, look at YOU. Who did this to you! Was there a break in?!" she asked, reaching up to him.

She sat him down on the couch and took his wet socks off.

He shook his head. "No it was..." he closed his eyes and sighed, "Elaina."

She gasped and stared at him in stunned silence, then slowly nodded her head in realization. "I thought I heard screaming and yelling but I wasn't sure."

He nodded. "She wouldn't let me leave the house. I climbed over your fence, sorry if I broke anything." He looked down at himself "I'm... bleeding on your couch"

"Oh don't worry about that, but yeah let's get you to the bathroom." she said, and helped him stand up.

He wobbled in a head-rush. She put her arm around him to help him walk, and he finally registered the fact that she was only wearing a jogging bra and yoga pants.

She got a wet facecloth and started cleaning the blood off of his face and took off his ripped shirt to do the same to his chest.

"Oh my God, did she stab you!?" she exclaimed as she cleaned off the wound.

"Yeah," he croaked in embarrassment.

"Jon, we need to get you to the hospital!" she looked up at him, almost panicking.

"For stitches yeah, but it didn't go deep enough to get anywhere close to my lung, I would've known by now if it did," he said.

"Well okay... I guess you would know," she said with a worried smile. She looked back at his chest and wiped the rest of the blood off of him tenderly with the facecloth.

"So I guess she finally lost it," Tabitha remarked as she cleaned him. "People were talking about her, like, Dennis across the street works at the hospital and the stories just kept getting worse and worse. Plus, like, she was never that kind to us to begin with, but then she started making these petty complaints about our yard to the HOA, almost every week. They reassured us, but still."

"Really? Your yard's immaculate," he said.

She beamed up at him, "Thanks."

Suddenly the doorbell rang.

They both looked towards the sound with concern.

"Please don't let her in," Jon said seriously.

"Yeah, don't worry," she said, and gave him a confident smile. "Stay here, you'll be safe." he noticed her eyes dart down over his half-naked body as she turned away.

He half-closed the bathroom door, worried for her safety and preparing to run out and help her if she needed. He could only just hear Tabitha's voice from the entrance way, but couldn't make out Elaina's.

"Oh Hi Elaina!"... "Jon? No I haven't seen him."... "Oh my God really?"... "Wow that's really concerning."... "Well I'll keep an eye out."... "What? Oh no I was just at the back of the house I would have seen him."... "No really I think you're better off trying the next house over if you're sure that's the way he went."... "No I'll let you know if I see him, I'm just about to head out but I'll check the back yard again before I go."... "Okay good luck I hope he's okay."

Jon breathed a sigh of relief as he heard the door shutting and the latch turning. He found some gauze and tape and started to cover his chest wound.

"She's gone," Tabitha said opening the door. "She was talking mostly normal, but she had this crazy look in her eyes, my God. Do you want me to call the police?"

Jon shook his head, "No. Just as long as we can make it out of here to urgent-care for some stitches. I'm not sure if I want to talk to them, but for now she's not likely to hurt anyone other than me."

"If you say so... Oh you should've let me get that," she said gesturing at his chest. "Here let me take care of your ear at least."

She rinsed the facecloth and sat him down so she could clean his ear and scalp. He began to notice her tight bust in the jogging bra inches from his face as her tender hands worked on his wounds. She apologized softly as he flinched.

"She told me that you'd had a nervous breakdown and were acting crazy, and then just ran off. Projection much?" She said, giggling, her breasts shaking in front of his face as she laughed.

"Where's Brad tonight?" he asked.

"Still away on business," she said bitterly. "Doing who knows what with who knows who..."

He let the comment stand, and showed her how to pad the wound and wrap the gauze around his head to put pressure on it to stop the oozing blood. As she finished and he stood up she caressed his neck below his ear and ran her fingers down to his chest wound.

"I can't believe she did this to you," she said tenderly. "You know you deserve better right?" she stared up at him doe-eyed and kept a hand on his shoulder.

He took a deep breath, his pecs just grazing the edge of her bra.

"Thank you," he said. "For everything."

He looked down at her. His mind had slowly been registering her body. She was by no means breathtaking, but there was a certain cuteness to her face, though right now it looked far from innocent. His balls were still aching from his abrupt departure from Elaina's clutches. The curves of Tabitha's body were probably only a little above average, but accentuated by her jogging bra and yoga pants, in that moment they were absolutely mouth-watering. Their bodies radiated heat. She was still recovering from her workout and he had only barely calmed down from his ordeal, pills of sweat covered both of them as they continued staring at each other.

Instead of moving away she inched ever so slightly forward and her breasts pressed lightly into his chest.

Her touch felt too good. He felt like he needed someone. In that moment, he needed someone to hold, to be with intimately, other than Elaina, to free himself from her.

He leaned down slowly, and she reached up quickly, to pull his face down and eagerly meet his lips in a kiss.

She slid her hand around his neck to pull him tighter. She moaned out softly as their mouths opened into each other and their tongues touched delicately. She opened her eyes and looked at him lustfully, then slowly walked backwards guiding him by the neck, softly kissing him again and again as they walked back out into the living room. Their hands slid over their bodies as she slowly stepped backwards, kissing him after each step with more tongue each time, finally spinning him around slowly and sitting him back onto the couch.

She sat down gingerly on him and he slid her jogging bra off of her. They locked in a heavy kiss and wrapped their arms around each other, her bare breasts pressing into his chest. She broke the kiss and slid off of him, undoing his belt and sliding his pants down to the floor. She moved her mouth to his cock without hesitation and started kissing and licking and eventually sucking, but only long enough for her to remove her yoga pants and climb back on top of him.

She kissed him again and slowly sunk down, reaching down to guide his cock into her. They moaned together as he entered her and she wrapped her legs around him. They locked in a kiss again and gently moved into each other in waves of passion. She was slow and delicate, taking care not to touch his wounds or move too quickly. He had already been so worked up from before, that his crescendo of pleasure built quickly. He moaned louder and she responded in turn.

He focused on how good her body felt, the touch of her skin, her warmth and caring affection. He didn't need Elaina. There was life beyond her. There were so many possible better lives without her. He dug his fingers into Tabitha's ass and rocked back into her more forcefully. She pulled his head against her chest as his moans heightened. He was close to the edge.

Suddenly he heard a scream and a banging on the window to the back porch. Elaina.

She had evidently broken into their back yard and followed his tracks. He looked at her crying, screaming furious face as he fucked their neighbour right in front of her. He could tell Tabitha was surprised as well but she didn't stop either. Their moans heightened further and their fingers dug into each other.

He came inside her as Elaina screamed profanity at them from outside the window. His cock gushed out in spasms and he closed his eyes tightly and groaned in satisfaction as Tabitha gasped and held him tightly.

Elaina finally stomped away and the faint slam of the screen door sounded as she left.

He relaxed back onto the couch as his orgasm subsided.

Tabitha let out a whimper of satisfaction and kissed him again, caressing his shoulders. She finally stood up and started to put her clothes back on.

He stood up carefully, checking his bandages, and pulled his pants on.

Tabitha squeezed his shoulder and gave a smirk. "Well let's get you a shirt, and get you to the hospital."

He nodded and she went upstairs. He looked back at the porch. Elaina was gone. That was it. He didn't feel any sort of guilt or vindication, no right or wrong, no good or bad. Simply a finality. There was no going back. It was done. He stared one last time at the screen door where she had fled, then he sighed, and turned away to escape with Tabitha.

The problem isn't that he doesn't leave, it's that he keeps seeing all the options he has and doesn't leave. The people who remain in those relationships usually feel like they don't have any options, that's part of the point of the social manipulation and isolation. She never succeeded in isolating him properly so it isn't believable that he would let it go this far.

Interesting chapter, Jon and Elaina's terrible relationship really hit rock bottom. I know that victims of emotional or mental abuse find it almost impossible to escape but there was so much depressing content here I found myself skipping ahead hoping for the light at the end. That's probably my only complaint, I get that the author wanted to explore the dynamic but there were times I was so angry I nearly stopped reading. There's only so much negativity a reader wants to slog through which is why I'm glad it finally came to a head.

There were also some strange parts, like others said the ending was bizarre honestly. But also the part where after Jon finally confides in Jeff he lets his friend go home to an abusive partner? If that were me I would take my friend anywhere but there even if he insists on going home. Victims like Jon who don't have the strength to stand up for themselves need good people to help them, not take them back to the abuser. That being said, I'm still invested in this story and I think the ending will be worth it.

Weird ending

Sex with the neighbor at the end just seemed completely out of character for both Jon ahd Tabitha, and for Elaina seeing it. Tabitha would have called the police and rushed him to a hospital, and if Elaina saw them having sex she would have murdered at least Tabitha if not Jon too.

Just an odd choice in the story; it feels like you’re checking off characters that Jon is supposed to have sex with as the story winds down and you didn’t know when else to fit it in.

Well, I had a feeling this chapter would garner all types of reactions. Overall I'm impressed and flattered despite some of the responses. I'll start by saying that when I first started writing the early chapters, this point was envisioned as the final climax (with somewhat different events, less vicious, and obviously Carly being the one he escapes with, so if you want to stop here and imagine that instead, then have at it.), but I decided the characters had more to give, and I wanted to go beyond this arc, so here we are.

I get that it's not for everyone. I will say though, if your only reaction is “Psshh he's just dumb, I would just leave,” then, good for you, I guess. But, tons of people end up stuck in unhealthy/abusive relationships and they're not all withering sub-human peabrained losers. I was trying to flesh out and explore the dynamics of how and why it happens, such as when they've been with them for a long time and their emotional claws are sunk in. Yes, Jon is absolutely a flawed protagonist, but I hope you can stick with him, as he still has a lot more to learn (the hard way). I'd even argue that one of the more unrealistic things about this chapter is how quickly he ends up escaping his abusive relationship, statistically speaking. ...but I'm not an expert, maybe I missed the mark with all this.

That said, yes the final scene gets unrealistic, it was just too cathartic to resist ...sorry? ;)

Seriously though, Thank you for all your honest opinions. I'm still amazed at the response. I started writing these just for myself, when I was bored at the start of the pandemic. It's weird how things can snowball. Stay tuned. Thanks again for reading.
