He reached his hand out to her. She looked at him sternly without a word.
Alden was trying to be nonchalant, but he really wanted her to come with him.
She walked away from him and stood in front of the Bloodworm's massive head. Then she unclasped her earrings, stripped the rings off her fingers, her gold anklet, and any other fancy adornment she had on. She scattered them in the sand in front of the worm, to set the scene of her "final moment".
'Smart.' Alden thought to himself. He was starting to respect her.
Then she walked back to him and took his hand. Alden felt a rush of relief come over him, then he escorted her out of the pit and snuck her out of the Caligula.
