Anonymousalmost 2 years agoIt’s funny. We’ve been following the exploits of an Empire that looked at the horrors of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and went “you are like little baby. Here, watch this”, and yet all of that just turned me on. Yet Hank breaking his promise to Eleana actually pissed me off and soured me to his character.
I think the reason for that is that literally all those other women? The one forced into galleys and shoved into cages so tightly together their tits are spilling out of the bars? They either love every second of it, or they’re horrible icees of human garbage so they deserve it (yes yes, nobody actually deserves this sort of treatment in real life, but this is bondage rape fantasyland, so standards are warped).
Eleana is the first time we met a woman who didn’t fit into any of these boxes. Admittedly, I skipped the first few chapters, so for all I know either Hank has pulled shit like this before and I shouldn’t have expected better of him, or Eleana burnt down an orphanage because it had too many little boys in it and not enough little girls.
