Click hereHe didn't have time to contemplate that as he made it out into the night. Ardin ran as fast as his legs would take him, which was faster than he'd ever run before. He headed for the edge of town and wasn't even winded when he passed from the cobbled road to the hard-packed dirt.
In fact, it wasn't until the sun began to rest behind him that Ardin finally slowed and looked for a place to sleep.
He spotted a viable place a little way from the road under a broad tree and nestled against the trunk. Only as his eyes began to close did he realize he'd understood the guards perfectly, though he knew they spoke their own language. Then, as sleep took him, Ardin realized that he'd broken two more commandments that night, having born false witness as he pretended to put a false God before his real one.
More is planned, but I've had to take a break from writing this story. Other things in life have taken precedence. Once I have those under control, I can return to this story. Sorry for the delay.
