Enjoyable read, and well constructed. Lots of possibilities teased, so I’m looking forward to part2. English is excellent - watch for a couple of classic errors. Most times you use ‘bring’ it should be ‘take’, and you often use adjectives as adverbs without changing them. The idea of drinking port with the meal is not to my taste, but each to his own.
